Ring announcer Gavin Loudspeaker kicks things off with a parody of “We Don’t Have to Take Our Clothes Off” by Jermaine Stewart, talking about the Cibernetico and how you don’t have to take your clothes off to enjoy CHIKARA. Couldn’t hurt though…maybe the less I say, the better.
Brodie Lee is standing outside by a truck. He has a match with Dasher Hatfield tonight. Lee goes through a list of people he’s defeated. He tells Hatfield that not many people have pinned him and suggests that Hatfield should keep wrestling to the real men, and that tonight’s match should be a quick one.
Dasher Hatfield {T} vs. Brodie Lee
Lee cranks on a side headlock. He knocks Hatfield down with a shoulder block. Lee evades a leapfrog and smacks Hatfield. Hatfield hits a couple underhand strikes. Lee slaps Hatfield down. Hatfield hops over Lee’s back and hits another underhand strike. Lee goes to the floor. Hatfield springboards off the middle rope onto Lee with a tope con hilo. Lee catches Hatfield as Hatfield goes up top and brings him down with a suplex. Lee digs his fingers into Hatfield’s eyes and chops him in the corner. Lee steps on Hatfield’s head. Lee steps on his throat. Lee goes back to his eyes as Hatfield begins to make a comeback. Hatfield tries a sunset flip, but Lee picks him up into an overhead slam. Lee misses a big boot, crotching himself on the top rope. Hatfield takes Lee’s boot off to neutralize Brodie’s big boot. Hatfield comes off the top rope with a stomp to Lee’s foot. Hatfield nails Lee with a lariat for two. Hatfield hits a shoulder block. Lee nails Hatfield with a big foot, and Hatfield kicks out. Hatfield evades a Liger Bomb and rolls up Lee for two. Lee hits another big foot and the Truck Stop for two. With Hatfield down, Lee takes the time to put his boot back on. Hatfield dropkicks Lee’s knee out and kicks him in the face. Hatfield drops Lee with the Suicide Squeeze (a Death Valley Driver) for the pin at 8:31! What a big upset, as Lee has absolutely destroyed everyone in CHIKARA lately. This is a cool victory for Dasher, and I’m happy to see him back for the first time in awhile. Brodie did a fine job playing a bully and I wonder what will come for Dasher because of this victory. **1/2
Ophidian {OP} vs. Dragon Yuki {PWK}
Yuki looks a lot fatter than he did in 2007, which probably means he sucks just as much (or more!) Yuki grabs Ophidian’s leg. Ophidian comes up into an armbar. Yuki grabs a front facelock and Ophidian reverses. Yuki splashes on Ophidian’s leg. Ophidian chops Yuki, but it has no effect. Yuki hits a flurry of forearms. Ophidian ducks one, and rolls into an armdrag. Ophidian hits a Thesz press in a corner and a Japanese armdrag. Ophidian takes Yuki down with a headscissors. Yuki catches Ophidian with a splash. He hits a rolling senton and a legdrop for two. Yuki stands on Ophidian’s chest and throat in the corner. Ophidian tries a couple headbutts to Yuki’s stomach, with no effect. Yuki applies a dragon sleeper. Ophidian escapes. Yuki ducks a spinwheel kick. Ophidian sends Yuki to the floor with a sick kick. Ophidian flies onto Yuki with a corkscrew tope con hilo. In the ring, Ophidian hits Yuki with double knees for two. Yuki kicks Ophidian and spears him down. Yuki hits a Canadian backbreaker for two. Ophidian and Yuki exchange strikes. Yuki hits a Michinoku Driver for two. Yuki misses a senton. Ophidian takes him down with an armdrag and applies the Ophidian Death Grip. Yuki taps out at 7:55. Yuki being on offense was awful, though Ophidian did a great job selling. Ophidian also did a good job on offense, but his hard work was not enough to compensate for Yuki’s sluggishness. *1/2
On a brighter note, The Osirian Portal do a bit of dancing afterwards. I don’t know why, but Ophidian dancing is always amusing. It’s got to be the mask!
Frightmare comes out, as he will be defending his Young Lions Cup. However, his opponent, Lince Dorado, is not at the show for personal reasons. Because of this, as per tradition, Frightmare’s new opponent will be decided via names drawn out of a hat. The first name, Tekno Team 2000 (who Gavin points out is a team) is picked. Gavin says he saw Bill Watts earlier, but not Erik. Suddenly, Johnny Gargano with a sweet new Sonic the Hedgehog like haircut comes out. He mentions that he won “The Countdown Showdown”, which gave him a Golden Opportunity (which Gargano admits he doesn’t know what that means). Gargano says now looks like a golden opportunity, and wants the shot at the Cup tonight. Dieter VonSteigerwalt emerges to make the match official.

Frightmare {I} (Champion) vs. Johnny Gargano {F}
Gargano pounds on Frightmare right away. Frightmare takes him down with a wheelbarrow armdrag and a step-up enzuigiri. Gargano hits Frightmare with a slingshot spear. Gargano hits Frightmare with a double knee strike to the neck. Gargano hits a backbreaker. Gargano nails a sole butt and puts Frightmare in an abdominal stretch. Frightmare hits an enzuigiri to send Gargano to the floor. He dropkicks Gargano in the head as Gargano tries another slingshot spear. Frightmare dives into Gargano’s arms, and Gargano slams Frightmare face first on the ring apron. Gargano backs Frightmare into the ring apron, and drops him face first on the apron once again. In the ring, Gargano hits a low ace crusher. Gargano tries an O’Conner roll, but only gets two. Gargano transitions into a body vice. Frightmare desperately hits a modified tilt-a-whirl DDT. He and Gargano exchange forearms. Frightmare wins the exchange, but Gargano superkicks him in the gut. Frightmare cartwheels into a backflip kick. Gargano rolls to the floor and Frightmare follows with a tope con hilo. In the ring, Frightmare hits a yakuza kick in the corner. Gargano drops Frightmare with a powerbomb, and two STO’s. Frightmare kicks out at two. Frightmare hits a hurricanrana and a running shooting star press for two. Frightmare lands a step-up enzuigiri. Gargano lawn darts Frightmare into the corner. He follows up with a superkick for two. Frightmare turns the Hurts Donut into a prawnhold for two. Frightmare hits a jump-up neckbreaker. Gargano evades the Kneecolepsy and drops Frightmare with the Hurts Donut for two. Frightmare drops Gargano with a crucifix bomb. He hits a yakuza kick and a pump-handle piledriver for two. Frightmare follows up with the Kneecolepsy to score the pin at 11:08. What a fantastic match these guys had. Everything they did was on point, made sense, and was really exciting. The transition from move to move had the crowd going the entire match. These two truly are the best younger talent CHIKARA has, and I look forward to them meeting again. ***1/2
Cheech Hernandez is backstage. He says he sees no clouds in sights, and that it’s a new dawn for him in CHIKARA. Clouds you say? Interesting choice of words, no?
Cheech Hernandez vs. Vin Gerard {U}
Cheech gets in Gerard’s face with handclaps. Cheech controls Gerard’s wrist to start. Gerard reverses and boots Cheech in the gut. Cheech blocks a dropkick and puts Gerard in an abdominal stretch. Cheech backslides Gerard for two. Cheech applies a bodyscissors while doing sit-ups. He smashes his elbow into Gerard’s shoulders everytime he comes up. Cheech puts Gerard in a sharpshooter. Cheech turns out and stands on Gerard like a surfboard. Gerard handstands on the apron into a kick, and snaps Cheech neck first on the top rope. Gerard kicks Cheech’s legs out and dropkicks him in the back of the neck. Gerard mocks Cheech by standing on his back like a surfboard. Gerard hits a forearm in the corner for two. Gerard tries another headstand kick, but Cheech kicks him to the floor. Cheech hits the Fozberry flop. In the ring, Gerard drops Cheech with a DDT. Gerard drops Cheech with a neckbreaker and rolls him up for two. Cheech hits a dropkick. He blocks Gerard’s attacks in the corner. He moonsaults onto Gerard for two. Cheech drops Gerard on his face with a pump-handle suplex. Gerard puts his knees up to avoid a superman spear. Gerard hits a Northern Lights suplex for two. He hits a running knee in the corner. Cheech knocks Gerard off the second rope with a forearm. Cheech blocks a moonsault and superkicks Gerard. Cheech hits a sliding dropkick and a 619 using the ring post for two. Gerard hits a 2k1 Bomb and transitions into the STF. Cheech taps out at 9:55, giving Gerard the win. I hope Cheech is getting this singles push they seem to be considering giving him, because he showed here that he can bring it in singles competiton. Gerard was a good first foil for him, and I hope this loss isn’t an indication of his future in CHIKARA. The match itself was good. I like the story of Cheech using a bit too much gaga and it costing him in the end. I think Cheech is a good candidate for the Osirian Portal’s third member. **3/4
Player Uno {SSB} & Player Dos {SSB} vs. Obariyon & Kodama
Obariyon and Kodama attack Uno and Dos while they’re posing on the ropes. Kodama throws Uno to the floor and helps Obariyon attack Dos. Dos ducks a double clothesline and hits a double backflip kick to their heads. Uno gives Obariyon a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker. Dos and Uno hit a double back elbow, and fist drop/moonsault combo for two. Dos hits a suplex for two. Obariyon hits Dos with a Manhattan drop and throws him into Kodama’s boot in the corner. Obariyon and Kodama hit their sweet drop toe hold/gut buster combo. Dos spears Kodama in the corner, and Uno hits a clothesline for two. Kodama throws Uno into a knee from Obariyon. Obariyon throws Uno down to the mat by the back of his head. Obariyon and Kodama isolate Uno in their corner. After being relentlessly beaten down, Uno drops Obariyon with a neckbreaker. Kodama tries to stop him from tagging out, but Uno drops him with an STO. Dos tags in and hits Obariyon with an Asai moonsault. He superkicks Kodama and hits a twisting tope onto Obariyon on the floor. Dos hits a flying legdrop to Kodama for two. Uno and Dos hit a side slam/springboard leg drop combo for two. Obariyon trips Uno and brings him to the floor. Kodama dropkicks Dos to the corner. Obariyon hits a delayed double stomp, and Kodama hits a flip dropkick for two. Dos hits Kodama with an enzuigiri. Obariyon boots Dos. Obariyon springboards off the ropes, and Uno catches him with a German suplex. Uno and Dos hit a Gory Catapult/reverse DDT combo for two. The fans went nuts and I don’t blame them. Kodama sends Uno the floor. He gives Dos a back cracker. Obariyon drills Dos with the flying DDT to score the pinfall at 11:32. Obariyon and Kodama are impressing me so far. Kodama cleaned up immensely since his debut, and Obariyon just gets better with each outing he has. This is a team I can’t take my eyes off of; they’re that intriguing. The Smash Bros. also hit a home run in this match, making themselves and their opponents look great. This was a great bonus match, and both teams deserve a lot of credit. ***1/2
UltraMantis Black is backstage. He says that Ares told him that he could not unite the CHIKARA locker room, but he did it. Mantis say they all hold CHIKARA sacred and have sacrificed too much to let the BDK defile it. He claims that his team tonight will take back CHIKARA.
Torneo Cibernetico

The Rules
Lucha tags are in effect, meaning in addition to physically contacting a wrestler, leaving the ring counts as a legal tag. Each team has a batting order that must be followed. That means that the wrestler in the ring must tag out to the next man in the batting order. Only the next wrestler in the batting order is up on the apron while the remaining teammates on each team wait on the floor. If the batting order is broken, the team can be disqualified. The order in which the participants are listed above is the batting order for both teams. The match is under elimination rules by pin fall, submission, disqualification or count out. There can only be one winner, so if more than one man on a team survives when all members of another team have been eliminated those teammates must wrestle each other to determine the winner.
There will be no play by play for moves, but I will however go over each elimination and key aspects of the match.
BDK referee Derek Sabato is announced as the official of the match. Bryce Remsburg however uses his seniority to kick him out of that spot and take it himself.
The BDK team enters first. The CHIKARA team comes out. Icarus is wearing his Ichabod Slayne mask while STIGMA is wearing his Shane Storm mask, representing their previous identities in CHIKARA. They both revert back to their current forms before the match. Vökoder unmasks immediately to reveal himself to be Larry Sweeney. An all out brawl ensues to start the match!
Eliminations:
– Pinkie Sanchez is the first one to go, as Sweeney hits him with an elbow drop at 2:20. Sanchez and Claudio were beating down Sweeney in the ring. Tursas did some damage before tagging in Sanchez, but Sweeney was able to recoup and eliminate him. Him yelling “12 Large Brother!” was nice to hear again. The person who won last year’s Cibernetico was the first one to go.
– Larry Sweeney is eliminated by Claudio Castagnoli with a Ricola Bomb at 2:42. Claudio immediately booted him in the face after Sweeney eliminated Sanchez and nailed the Ricola Bomb to eliminate him.
– STIGMA is eliminated by Tim Donst with a Gator Roll at 7:55. STIGMA was left alone during an all out brawl with Ares, Tim Donst, and Sara Del Rey in the ring. That disadvantage became too much, and Donst was able to take him out.
– Ares is eliminated by UltraMantis Black with a Praying Mantis Bomb at 13:19. When Mantis tagged in, the fans absolutely lost it. Mantis and Ares had some great back-and-forth, with Mantis kicking out of a few moves. Mantis went for the Praying Mantis Bomb. Tim Donst ran in, and in a cool moment, Hallowicked, who is Mantis’ biggest rival, came in and nailed Donst with a yakuza kick to prevent him from doing so. Mantis pinned the leader of the BDK, and the fans lost it once again.
– Hallowicked is eliminated as Tursas pins him with a crossbody at 16:46. Hallowicked was next in the batting order after Mantis, and didn’t get the opportunity to tag out. He felt the onslaught of three other BDK members before falling to Tursas. This isn’t to say that Hallowicked didn’t fend for himself enough during the match, but the numbers were against him. Hallowicked had Delirious beaten with the Go Too Sleepy Hollow, but BDK referee Derek Sabato pulled him out of the ring. Distracted, Hallowicked was taken down by Tursas’ splash
– Icarus is eliminated by Tim Donst via the Inverted CHIKARA Special at 20:37. For the first time in over five years, the fans chanted for Icarus. It was as strange as it sounds. Claudio muscled and beat down his former Kings of Wrestling stablemate, but Icarus kicked out of everything he had. He hit Claudio with the Pedigree, and Donst immediately speared him and rolled Claudio to the floor. Icarus hit Donst with a pedigree, but Sabato put Donst’s foot on the ropes to stop the pin. Donst rolled into the submission, and Icarus tapped out.
– Delirious is eliminated at 23:10 when UltraMantis Black hits him with the Praying Mantis Bomb. Mantis avoided a Bizarro Driver and dropped him with the Mantis Bomb to eliminate his former minion.
– Jigsaw is eliminated at 25:00 when Donst puts him in the Inverted CHIKARA Special. Claudio blasted him with a pop-up European uppercut before Donst put him in the hold.
– Tim Donst is eliminated at 27:28 when Quackenbush puts him in the CHIKARA Special. Donst got Quackenbush in the Inverted CHIKARA Special, and Quack was able to escape! Before this, Quack flat out told us there was no reversal to the hold. Well, I guess Quack was able to find one, because that’s exactly what he did. Donst even yelled “You told me there was no reversal!” after the fact.
– Mike Quackenbush is eliminated at 29:19 after Claudio nails him with a lariat. Tursas knocked Quack down, and Claudio finished the job.
– Sara Del Rey is eliminated at 30:05 when Kingston hits her with the Backfist to the Future. Yep.
– Daizee Haze is eliminated at 30:14 when Kingston hits her with the Backfist to the Future. Indeed.
– UltraMantis Black is eliminated at 31:00 when Tursas hits him with a splash. Kingston sends himself and Claudio to the floor with a Cactus clothesline. Tursas splashed Mantis on the floor, and once again in the ring to pin CHIKARA’s team captain.
– Claudio Castagnoli is disqualified/eliminated at 32:42. Claudio dropped Kingston with a Ricola Bomb, which Kingston kicked out of. Claudio got caught up in a slugfest and kicked Kingston right in the groin. Bryce Remsburg disqualified him for doing so.
– Eddie Kingston wins the 2010 Cibernetico after hitting Tursas with the Sliding D at 35:45. Tursas gave Kingston two splashes after Claudio left, and he still kicked out. Tursas clobbered Kingston with forearms and threw Kingston down face first. Kingston kicked out of a splash and hit a couple enzuigiris. Sabato grabbed Kingston’s leg to stop him from continuing his onslaught. Kingston however wouldn’t back down, and got up immediately after Tursas hit a Saito suplex. Kingston blasted Tursas with a clothesline to knock Tursas off his feet for the first time ever. Kingston follows up with the Sliding D to pin Tursas and get the victory.
Additional Notes
– Sweeney immediately battled Claudio on the floor at the start of the match. Sweeney and Kingston went back to back in the ring, attacking any BDK members that dared enter. SUCH A COOL SCENE!
– Kingston was next in the batting order after Sweeney was eliminated. The BDK went through their entire line-up, with all seven members targeting their attack on Kingston’s leg. Claudio almost ate the Backfist to the Future, but Claudio ducked and went to the floor. Things broke down once again after this, with all seven members of each team beating on each other.
– As soon as Icarus was eliminated, Kingston came in and traded shots with Donst as a preview of their singles match tomorrow night.
– Tursas slammed Mantis on the floor right before Quack’s elimination, which is why it was so easy for Tursas to pin Mantis when his elimination came.
– At a mere 35:45, this is the shortest Cibernetico in CHIKARA history.
I don’t know what to say. This match was absolutely amazing. The nuance involved in this is literally unprecedented. I can point out so many little things CHIKARA called back to in this: Sweeney and Kingston’s feud in 2006, Claudio and Icarus as former Kings of Wrestling members, STIGMA and Quack fighting off the BDK as a call back to them as a former team, Mantis interacting with Hallowicked and Delirious, as well as current stuff such as Kingston and Claudio’s current feud and the friction between Hallowicked and UltraMantis Black. I could go on and on with the storyline stuff, but it’s all there in tight layers. The wrestling and story of the match itself was some of the best, most emotional stuff you will ever see. This was almost wrestling perfection. It is matches like this that remind me why I am such a huge fan of this company. This is a strong contender for the best Cibernetico ever, and if you wanted to call this the best match in the company, I wouldn’t argue too much. This is my new CHIKARA match of the year. ****1/2
Eddie Kingson gets a standing ovation. He says tonight wasn’t about him, and asks for CHIKARA’s music to be played as he heads to the back.
