Akuma avoids it, so Briscoe takes him down with a lariat and an exploder suplex. This time the Jay Driller is a success and gets Jay the win at 9:57. This was a very good showing for Akuma. He and Jay have similar styles making for a very good dynamic. It’s a shame Akuma didn’t amount to much in FIP around this time, but it’s good to know he got his due many years later. **¾

Evans gives him a 630 leg drop on Hulk’s knee for the pin at 18:25. Considering how awesome CHIKARA and Dragon Gate are at putting on trios matches, it’s no surprise that this ended up being as good as it was. Some of the best stuff all six guys have ever produced and on par with some of Dragon Gate’s best ROH outings. ****

FIP World Heavyweight Championship
Roderick Strong (Champion) vs. Larry Sweeney

Dave Prazak and Mr. Milo Beasley are in Sweeney’s corner. Both last night and earlier tonight, Sweeney attacked Strong’s left elbow since it is injured. While Sweeney wastes time on the floor, Strong puts on his sunglasses, boas, and holds up the Tex-Arkana title. Sweeney avoids being punch in the corner. He tries throwing one of his own, but Strong blocks it and gets in his shot. Sweeney claims an open fist as he retreats to the floor. Strong calls Sweeney the biggest chicken he’s ever seen which Sweeney does not appreciate. They trade wristlocks. Strong stomps on Sweeney’s elbow. Sweeney drives Strong to the corner and once again bails to the floor. He asks for a handshake when he comes back in. Strong accepts, but firmly grips onto Sweeney’s hand and throws him to the mat. He stomps on the hand and throws some chops. He gets two with a leg lariat. Sweeney takes control out on the floor dishing out his own chops. In the ring Strong chops up Sweeney in the corner. He gives Sweeney a fallaway slam for two. He goes for a superplex but Sweeney fights him off. Sweeney shoves Strong down and immediately goes at him with forearms and stomps. He chokes Strong on the middle rope. He slingshots him throat first into the bottom rope. Sweeney tosses Strong to the floor. He gives him a double axe handle off the apron and sends him chest first into the guardrails. Sweeney busts out the Garvin Stomp back in the ring. He comes off the middle rope with a double axe handle. After a gutwrench suplex he drops an elbow from the second rope. Strong kicks out. Sweeney looks for another double axe handle. Strong catches him with a clothesline to the stomach, followed up with a running clothesline. After a series of strikes Strong dropkicks Sweeney for two. He goes for the Tiger Driver but Sweeney drives him to the corner. Sweeney gets two with a Gourd Buster. Strong comes back with a suplex out of the corner. Sweeney blocks a backbreaker with an O’Conner Roll. Strong kicks out and tries an inside cradle. Sweeney kicks out and delivers a diving clothesline to the neck. He almost has the match with a piledriver but Strong gets his foot on the ropes. Sweeney misses the 12 Large Elbow. Death by Roderick, the Tiger Driver, and the Stronghold get Strong the win at 16:43. They did a really good job making it look like Strong’s title was in danger. With little to no interference by Prazak and Beasley, I can say this was a more worthwhile watch then it would have been otherwise. The fans got into it and Strong did a great job making Sweeney look like a worthy contender. ***¼
